Amazon Restocks Lego Transformers Optimus Prime, Offers Big Discount
Lego Icons: Optimus Prime is a 1,500-plus brick build that can convert into the iconic truck from the Transformers movies.
One of the coolest Lego display models for adults, the Transformers 2-in-1 Optimus Prime, is back in stock at Amazon for a great discount. The popular Transformers Lego set had been sold out since before the holidays until March when Amazon secured new units. That restock as well as multiple subsequent ones sold out, but Amazon has once again replenished its inventory and is offering a 20% discount that drops the price of Lego Optimus Prime to $144 (was $180). You can also get the 1,508-piece replica of the Autobot leader at Target for the same price. Walmart had this deal recently as well, but unlike Amazon, the retailer hasn't restocked its supply after selling out.
Considering how many times we've seen this Lego Icons set sell out recently, we wouldn't be surprised to see this 2-in-1 build--Lego Optimus Prime can quickly switch between mech and truck modes--go out of stock again soon. The current price matches the set's Black Friday promotion. If the deals at Amazon and Target disappear, it's worth noting that the Lego Store has Optimus Prime at the moment, but it'll cost you the full $180 MSRP. Lego officially lists Optimus Prime as "hard to find." This description combined with the prolonged stock shortages could mean that the Optimus Prime kit, which debuted in 2022, is close to retirement.

Lego Transformers: Optimus Prime (1,508 Pieces)
$144 (was $180)
What sets the Optimus Prime apart from many other licensed kits of this size is that it's highly interactive. Though you won't be pulling off dynamic poses, you will be able to gently adjust the limbs of Optimus, equip him with his trademark ion blaster, and even replace his hand with his legendary Energon-Axe. Optimus has 19 points of articulation, so he's essentially a large high-end action figure that doubles as an awesome display piece.
The real magic here is that Optimus can transform into his signature truck mode, easily shifting from Autobot commander to a big rig that's ready to roll out. Getting to that point is the fun part, though. It takes a few hours to piece together all 1,508 pieces required to bring everyone's favorite Cybertronian to life.
Once you're done, you'll have an Optimus Prime replica that measures 13.5 inches tall in mech mode and 10.5 inches long when converted into a truck.
Lego Transformers: Bumblebee (950 Pieces)
$90
After two years of talking to himself and converting into a truck to take long aimless drives, one of Optimus Prime's pals finally joined him in the brick-built world of Lego last summer.
Lego's 950-piece Bumblebee kit has yet to receive a discount, but this comparatively smaller buildable figure is one of the coolest Lego sets under $100. It has numerous points of articulation, and you can quickly transform the Autobot from mech to car.
Bumblebee is 9.5 inches tall in mech mode and 8.5 inches long in vehicle mode.
Amazon also has great deals on two other iconic vehicles from movie history. The Lego Icons Back to the Future Time Machine is discounted to $164 (was $200). This is a 3-in-1 build, but unlike the Transformers sets, you'll need to pick which DeLorean model from the trilogy you want to build. If you change your mind later on, you can partially deconstruct the model and rebuild it using the instructions for one of the other designs. Similar deals are also available at Walmart and Target.
Meanwhile, Dune fans can save 20% on the Lego Icons: Atreides Royal Ornithopter, dropping the price from $165 to $132. The 1,369-piece build comes with six Lego minifigures.
